Overview

Journalists regularly face long hours, deadline pressure, exposure to traumatic events and threats to their safety. Yet little data exists on how this affects their mental health in Bangladesh. This survey aims to fill that gap.

Objectives

  • Measure levels of stress, anxiety and burnout among media professionals
  • Identify key workplace and safety risk factors
  • Understand what support journalists can currently access
  • Recommend practical steps for media houses and policymakers

Methodology

An anonymous online questionnaire open to reporters, editors, photojournalists and other media workers across Bangladesh. Responses are confidential and analysed only in aggregate.

“A healthy newsroom starts with healthy journalists. Evidence is the first step to better support.” — Public Forum (sample quote)

Expected outputs

Findings will be published as a report and policy brief, and discussed at a roundtable on media safety and well-being in Dhaka.
